Happy Birthday, yo

What is it that you look most forward to on a friend's birthdays? I could tell you that a large part of it involves dressing up and looking pretty for the party. Also, the joy on your friend's face when she unwraps her gifts to find things she absolutely adores. The gastronomical reasons are not far behind. (Yes, I'm a self confessed foodie) It was my friend's birthday and we went to a place called 'Fireflies' where Cosmos and Fire wood pizzas were the order of the day. Endless chatter, a gorgeous birthday cake, lots of gifts, lots of pictures and a lot of promises for our last year together were on the agenda. Check all. I absolutely love birthday parties. Don't you?

I wore a black tube dress with ruffles at the top from Dotti and a flower brooch to give it that extra spunk. I wore a string of pearls and chains across my chest...uhmm..I don't know why :) It just seemed to complete the look. My favourite part? The polka dot net stockings. They came in the most gorgeous box of Leona Edmiston and are more commonly called the 'opal tights'. Paired that with my black booties and a dash of blue and silver sequins in the clutch from Forever New.

I'm anticipating more experimenting with the hair this season. Poker-straight might be an all time favourite but there's nothing like a cute side ponytail or a frivolous braid with some hair accessories. Also a must try this season: The chignon for that French, dainty look.
